About

Roger E Nixon, Military & Historical Searches
The British Library. Viewed from the piazza

The Military & Historical Searches service was established in the summer of 1996 to cater for the ever growing demands of academic and family researchers throughout the world for a London based dedicated search-research facility. Since then nearly 8000 clients have been provided with the results of research undertaken at the National Archives (formerly the Public Record Office) at Kew, The British Library, the Asia and Pacific Collections (previously the Oriental & India Office Collections containing records of British India), Lambeth Palace Library, London Metropolitan Archives, The Guildhall Library, Westminster Archives, Society of Genealogists Library and The Newspaper Library. Repositories outside of London have also been catered for subject to need. Some commissions have been merely half an hour whilst others have run for months.

Over the years the demands on the Military & Historical Searches service have steadily increased. This has necessitated the retention of associates of which Roger Nixon is principal and also lead researcher. He now manages a small dedicated team of academics and specialists dealing in government and departmental records, military, naval, marines, seamen, coastguard and police research as well as pure genealogy, maps and charts, paleography, Latin (and other foreign languages).
